Santa Cruz County courts move to new complex

The following is a news release from Santa Cruz County Superior Court:

The Santa Cruz County Justice of the Peace Number 1 and Superior Court will move to the new Santa Cruz County Justice Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

The new Courthouse is located immediately east of the Santa Cruz County Complex and the new physical address is 2160 North Congress Drive in Nogales.

TUBAC, AZ (KOLD) - Many pockets of Santa Cruz County sit on floodplains, vulnerable to storm water and rising rivers. But now, new mapping indicates that more of the county sits on this type of land than previously thought.

"There have been changes in the system," explained John Hays, floodplain coordinator for Santa Cruz County. "Flood events have occurred over the years that have rearranged the channels."

Fire threatening historic ranch house

A fire started in the Empire Ranch on the Las Cienega Conservation area, according to Kristen Lenhardt of the Bureau of Land Management.

The Sonoita/Elgin Fire Department is fighting the fire, which is located just off of AZ 83 on Empire Ranch Road. BLM crews are on their way to the fire to help out.

The historic ranch house is in danger, Lenhardt stated.

Arlene Fire 45 Percent Contained, Evacuations Lifted

The Arlene Fire, about five miless east of Lochiel, Ariz., is expected to be fully contained on Friday, May 27th, according Heidi Schewel of the Coronado National Forest.

The human caused fire is still under investigation. So far, the fire has burned through 10,610 acres.

There are 377 personnel currently working on the fire, which started on May 23rd.
